Man, this one got my brain turning for sure!
When I hear something like this I immediately take a moment and consider my own life and circumstances. It is easy to spot areas of commitment versus interest in my day to day affairs.
There is power in commitment. Commitment means you will not accept no for an answer. When you are committed to something you will position the rest of your life around the very thing you are committed to. This ensures you honor your commitment.
I wonder if we really show the level of commitment to the things we value most in our lives to the degree that we think we do.
If you were asked to make a list of the items in your life that you value most, and follow that up with a list of your daily activities that validate your commitment to those items, what would the data show?
I know for me there is a lot of ‘interest’ where I thought I was ‘committed’.
We live in a convenience driven society. I enjoy conveniences every day as I’m sure you do too. It’s important that we remain conscious about the fact that convenience is being pushed on us from every advertisement, commercial, social media AD, etc.
This can easily spill over into thinking we can approach our entire lives with the same type of mindset. Unfortunately it simply doesn’t work that way. Especially in the realm of growth and development.
The reality is that if you only have interest in stepping into your full potential, and becoming the complete person you are intended to be….you will fail, and fail miserably.
Every day will present new challenges and time pressures that will keep you from making any progress.
As LaNina King said, “anything worth having comes with a price.”
What are you committed to, or just interested in today?
